Today I graduated to a yellow stripe belt. My sensei said that I work hard and I am very focused - which is always nice to hear! I like martial arts - mainly because I get to pretend that I am the Avatar.
Today was particularly special because I got to celebrate with my buddy Aiden who is already on his orange belt! Congrats buddy!

Can you believe that I am in the double digits? Ten trips around the sun!! I had a brilliant day starting with tons of presents from my family - some super cool lego, a harry Potter Wand that does real spells and a really cool card with a story just for me from Aunty Jen
The we went out to dinner with MB & Mark and my friend Jens. I got a cake with a candle to blow out and I was very relieved that I didn't have to eat it. What a happy day! Happy Thanksgiving! Another year of lots to be thankful for - especially great friends! We shared the day with our California family - The DiComos, The Kavanaghs and the The Taylors. We had tons of food and lots of fun. I am very thankful for my lovely family here in California and in the UK.

One of the best traditions that we have in my school is the Compliment Book. For every classmates birthday we each write a page on what we appreciate about them and bind it into a book. Today I received my book where all my classmates wrote about what they appreciate about me - mostly it was about my jokes and dancing and doodling. I am pleased to see that they recognize how much effort I put into entertaining them during the school day. Mummy didn't seem as thrilled about that but she was very happy to see that I have a lot of friends in my class and that I follow her #1 rule - to be kind.
Today was my birthday party! I chose to have it at the local swimming pool - which ended up being a very good idea as there are so many awful fires at the moment that the air is really smoky and super unhealthy so it was good to be inside. Some of my friends actually left town so weren't able to make it last minute but I still had a lot of friends that did make it and they were very relieved to be able to be able to have some smoke-free fun.
We had a ton of pool toys and there is a great slide there. Then we had a photo-booth and some pizza in the party room. I think we all liked the hot-tub the most. My cake was really cool - it had a picture of Voltron on it and light up candle holders. Apparently it tasted nice too, but I don't do cake! Thank you to all my friends who braved the smoky air and thanks for all my awesome presents! I feel like such a lucky boy - especially when I think of all the tragedy that is happening not far from here with people losing everything they own - and even their lives with these horrible fires. I hope it rains soon! Zane is pretty sure that he is a dog. He has seen his sisters chasing squirrels - so he thought he would give it a go (well, he has seen Leia chasing squirrels - Lola is much more of a live and let live kind of soul). He chased them up the tree but then they had a stand-off and he wasn't quite sure what he as supposed to do. So they stared at each other for a while and then they all got bored and walked away. Leia would have been going potty if she was there. May be Zaney is more like Lola after all.
If you have met Leia, then you know that she will do pretty much anything to get attention.
Tonight she resorted to dancing for Zane to encourage him to play with her. Zane was having none of it. |
