Mummy wanted to get up and about as soon as possible so she put me in my pram to go for a walk with Lola and Nana on the bike path at the end of our road. I slept through the whole experience but Mummy realizes she pushed it a little too far too soon. Lola seemed to enjoy it though! I think we are going to get used to going for walks together.

Today I am leaving hospital and going home for the first time!
Before we can leave hospital Mummy and I both had to be checked by Doctors and then there were lots of forms to fill out to register my birth. Then Mummy and Daddy put ‘outside’ clothes on me for the first time - they had a little bit of trouble as they are new at this. I wore my blue and brown striped fleece pajamas, a tiny white hat and a blue fleece coat with doggies on it. Then it was time to be strapped into my car seat - which seemed very big to me! - and then into the car for the short journey home. When we arrived at my house Nana came to carry me in so that Mummy and Daddy could make a big fuss of Lola first. She seemed very excited to see them and she also seemed to accept me straight away. She came up and gently gave me a good sniff and then settled down. I think I am going to like it here. My Nana and Tada came all the way from Wales to be here when I was born.
Everyone thought I was going to arrive early so they arrived two weeks before I did! They did have a nice time helping Mummy and Daddy get ready for me. Tada really enjoyed the sunshine on the roof deck and Nana had time to finish the tapestry she made for me. On my birthday Nana was there in the delivery room and Tada stayed home to look after Lola and came to see me about 2 hours after I was born. I was so happy that Nana and Tada were there to spend the first two weeks of my life with me. I miss them now that they have gone home but I do enjoy seeing them on our weekly video conference calls and I will see them soon when Mummy and Daddy bring me home to visit. I stayed in hospital with my Mummy for my first Thanksgiving. Daddy, Nana and Tada were there too for most of the day.
Aunty Mo and Uncle Michael and Charlie came to visit for the first time - and they brought me a cuddly Panda to play with. Then Aunty Joy, Uncle Warren, Lucy and Piper came to visit and they gave me a guardian Angel. I can already tell that I am loved by lots of wonderful people and I am very thankful for that! November 26th was a rainy day and it was dark when my Mummy and Daddy and Nana left the house at 5.45 a.m. to go to hospital. Mummy was going to be induced because the doctor decided it was better for me not to stay in her tummy any longer. She was induced at 7am and labor started soon after. She did very well without drugs for a while but was also very glad when she had an epidural!
I got a little lost on my way out and had turned sideways at the end, so Dr Demuth decided I needed a little help with the last little bit so he pulled me out with forceps. I came into the world screaming at 6.32 pm. Daddy said I looked like a bruiser because my fists were clenched ready for a fight! I was put on my Mummy’s chest right away and I calmed down as I stared at her and she smiled and cried at me. Daddy and Nana cried too - soon we were all crying! Then the nurse took me to the other end of the room to get tagged and weighed and cleaned up. I did not enjoy that! But once they took me back to my Mummy again, I was quite happy and I had my first meal. The nurse said that she would come and help me, but by the time she got there, I had already figured out what I was supposed to do! I had my first phone call with my Aunty Sian before I even left the delivery room! She was very happy I was here at last! I was very comfy in my Mum’s tum, but so far I quite like it out here too. |
