Today is our last day in Tahoe because school starts tomorrow.
We got everything packed up and Mum had the bright idea to have one last bike ride before we got on the road. She also had the bright idea to take our electric bikes down a steep dirt trail that they were not built for. I fell off and broke my wrist in 2 places! It hurt so much! I was not keen on getting a painkilling injection so I let the doctors reset it without anesthesia. Mum said it was the hardest thing that she has ever had to watch. It wasn’t much fun for me either!

Sadly, every summer now California has lots of wildfires. It is very sad, many people and animals lose their homes. It also makes the air very smokey so we have to stay inside most of the day. Aiden and I wouldn’t mind staying in and playing video games but our parents watched the air quality indexes constantly and insisted we got outside to do stuff when we were able. I have to admit, it was actually quite fun - especially the jet skiing!
We are going to have anelection in November to choose a President. Our current one is very mean and a bit of a bully. Tonight the Democratic Party chose their candidate - Joe Biden. He seems much kinder. He grew up with a stutter and people made fun of him so he knows what is like to be bullied and i think he will stand up for people.
We went for a bike ride along the river today. It was very hot so Daddy and I decided to take a dip in the river - it was very “refreshing”! There was a Yoda shaped cloud in the sky and I am pretty sure I heard it say “Crazy you are!”
Today we went on a long hike up the mountain with our long-time friends and new neighbors, Cliff and Pam. They have had a house on our street for a few years now so they know all the cool spots. There was even a train at the top of the mountain - but no tracks so I have no idea how it got there!
We found a really cool dog friendly beach on Lake Tahoe - appropriately called Hidden Beach! It was so beautiful there! It was such a hot day that a float in the cool water was just perfect! Lola agreed. Leia, not so much.
One of the best things about our Tahoe house is that we can enjoy it with friends. These Covid times mean that times with our ‘pod’ families are even more special so I was very excited today that the DiComos were coming to visit. We had a lovely few days floating around on Martis Lake and Boca reservoir. Lola tried to teach Oscar how to swim but he wasn’t too keen - even with Leia’s life jacket on.
We found a really cool lake very close to our house and the best part about it is that it is dog friendly! Lola and Leia loved running around in the water and then we went on a lovely hike around the lake. So many pretty places to visit up here.
Today’s adventure was a walk along Truckee river. It was lovely. So refreshing to dangle your feet in the icy cool water on a warm day. Lola and Leia loved it too.
If you look closely in the picture where Dad is standing in the river looking down, you can see a water snake! Shhh! Don’t tell Aunty Sian! |
