I am really enjoying my martial arts classes. I am getting better and better all the time. I think I may want to be a ninja when I grow up.

Today was AMAZING! We had travelled all the way up to Oregon to be in the path of totality for the Solar Eclipse. It was incredible! As the moon worked its way across the sun, it got darker and darker until, in the moment of totality, the sky went completely dark, stars came out, street lamps came on, birds went silent and we all stared in amazement at the ring of light surrounding the moon. Even Mummy, who was not originally convinced that it would be worth driving 9 hours to see something that would last for 2 minutes, had to admit that it was amazing. Leia on the other hand, made her self a little nest in the bushes and slept through it!
Today we went to Oregon Dunes National park. It is an incredible place that looks like the Sahara desert with these gigantic dunes as far as the eye can see. I climbed all the way up to the top of the tallest dune and rolled all the way down. It was brilliant fun. Lola and Leia weren't allowed off leash but were desperate to come and do it with me. Mummy was happy to have their help to pull her up to the top of the dunes though!
Daddy has been planning this trip for a long time. He booked our hotel more than 2 years ago, and he picked a good one! We stayed at the Inn at Nye Beach up in Newport Oregon. It is dog friendly - Lola and Leia were given a bag of treats when they arrived and they each had their own chair to sleep in. Best of all it had steps down to this amazing beach that reminded us so much of South Beach in Tenby. But these sand dunes were even better. They were brilliant to climb and roll down and play fetch and hide and seek. And they had these amazing sand sculptures formed by the wind (although there were a few less of them after Leia and I had been there!). The hotel also had an awesome hot tub overlooking the beach. And best of all there was a Pub called Nana's! Who knew that Nana had a pub in Oregon?! I was a little disappointed that she wasn't there though.
There is going to be a total eclipse that you see from Oregon, so the Brennan's are hitting the road to go and see it! We all (everyone apart from Zaney) piled in the car for the long car journey north. We were all quite excited about it in the beginning, but it soon got tiring and my sisters and I had a good nap together in the back seat.
There were some lovely sights on the way and we stopped for some much needed stretches of legs and paws. The girls had a dip in Lake Shasta and we saw Mt Shasta with snow on the top (in August!) - even though it was a bit hazy because of the nearby fires. We also stopped off at Rogue River on the way back to see where the Salmon are born and where they swim all the way back from the ocean to have their babies. I can see why they like it, its very pretty here. Summer is almost over and we left the best camp for last - Born to Rock Camp! We formed a band and called ourselves the Raining Donuts, we wrote and performed our own songs, learned drums, keyboard, guitar and bass, made our own poster and album cover, had a photo shoot and even performed our songs to an audience. Life of a rock star is a busy one!
Everybody seemed to not feel very well the morning after Mummy's birthday party. May be it was something they ate. A bit of fresh air was much needed, so we went for a hike in the woods near our house. Leia's BFF, Rosie came too. We visited the park at the end of the walk and I am not the only one who enjoyed playtime. I am also not the only one that was very tired after that long walk!
My lovely family fly back home today. I am going to miss them sooooo much! Mummy turned 40 + 10 in June which she says still qualifies as 40 something. Tonight we had a party to celebrate with her family and friends - and their kids! So it was great fun! The adults were a lot louder than the kids, and not as well behaved either. I think I may need to put them on restriction.
Our trip to Hawaii may be over, but vacation is still going strong as my family is still here for a couple of days in San Francisco. It was Ryan's first time so we did all the sights - including the obligatory trip to the Cheesecake Factory! I think that their favorite part of the whole trip may have been driving Daddy's transforming BMW. I had to show them how to put the roof up though.
Time to say Aloha to Hawaii til next time. I got to help out in Airport security for a little bit - which was fun!
