All of ILM’s leaders from their studios around the world are in town for a summit so Mum invited them all around for dinner. The deck worked perfectly and everyone enjoyed playing pool, Bocce ball or listening to music in Dad’s room. I kept myself to myself in my room - though the food was delicious!
Our remodel is almost complete and our new pool table has arrived! Mum and I could do with a bit of practice.
Mum made it home in time for her birthday. We went to the Music Department prize giving and then out to Picco’s just the 3 of us. Then, because she is like the Queen, she had a second celebration the next night with the Massive.
Mum is finally on her way home - and she is doing it in style flying 1st class on Emirates. She has her own room and she even got to take a shower on board! She said it was the quickest shower ever as whe was worried the fasten seatbelts sign would come on in the middle! She had a 3 hour flight from Mumbai to Dubai and then 15 hours from Dubai!
I went to support Jens at his MMS graduation this evening. It was a little strange being back at Junior High for the first time since I left a year ago. Jens did a great job on his speech and he mentioned our friendship which was lovely. He is heading to Archie Williams school next year as he doesn’t live in the Redwood catchment, but I am sure we will stay in touch. Congrats mate!
Mum is now in Mumbai! She gets around. She is there to officially open up their new studio space there. She had a wonderful time celebrating with all the ILMers as well as eating some fantastic Indian food. She said she didn’t seem much of Mumbai but said it was a city of contrasts - from the very modern to the Victorian looking reminders of the British Empire. From the 18 story houses of the super rich to the ramshackle improvised housing of the poorer people. She found it fascinating and wants to go back with us when we have more time to explore.
Mum really IS working in London - they are filming a series there and in prep on a film, but she did get to have a few hours off to go visit Hannah and Milly and families who just so happened to be near London at Chessington World of Adventures. It was a real treat for her to see them and I wish I was there!
While Mum was partying at an ABBA performance, I was giving a performance of my own in the Redwood Theater for our spring showcase.
Mum is “working” in London - though to be honest it mainly looks like she is having fun.
ILM helped create the ABBA Voyage show which gives the illusion that you are watching the band on stage in the 70’s. Tonight was the 3 year anniversary and they debuted 4 new songs with Benny and Anna Frid in attendance. Then she got to go to the small after party for a sing-a-long led by Elvis Costello and Benny! AND she got to do that next to Rob Brydon who is my favorite from Would I lie to you and hers from Gavin and Stacey! |
